Recently acquired by BioHorizons, Intra-Lock’s IntraSpin System is the only medical device approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the production of leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin, according to the companies. A simplified chairside procedure results in a thin, compressed layer of platelet rich fibrin that is strong, pliable, and suitable for suturing, BioHorizons reports. The L-PRF matrix can act as a carrier for particulate grafting material. The IntraSpin system doesn’t require additives, second spin, or heating and offers a low consumable cost, making it easy to incorporate into a clinical practice, the companies say. The IntraSpin L-PRF system is designed to be a staple in all implant and grafting procedures as it enhances the wound-healing process and promotes more rapid maturation of tissues.
