Philadelphia, PA – The DentaQuest Foundation is proud to announce that Ralph Fuccillo, President, is a recipient of the 2010 Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Education Fund Award.
Each year, the Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Education Fund program advisory board recognizes four individuals from academia, clinical environments, and industry who have done outstanding entrepreneurial work to educate the community-at-large on the impact of oral health. DentaQuest Foundation president Ralph Fuccillo was one of them, recognized as a transformational leader whose vision, innovation and support of oral health programs is changing the public’s understanding of oral health.
The Shils Entrepreneurial Education Fund was established in 2002 to honor the pioneering vision of the late Dr. Edward B. Shils, professor at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton College and former executive director of the Dental Manufacturers of America and to encourage innovation that results in the improvement of oral health. The Fund, which operates under the administration of the American Dental Association (ADA) Foundation, recognizes outstanding entrepreneurial initiatives that educate the community at large on the impact of oral health and provide educational opportunities for those in the dental industry.
The award is accompanied by a monetary prize which Fuccillo will give to the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, an organization that shares his commitment to “leaders in service,” the development of individuals who are dedicated and skilled in addressing the health needs of underserved communities, and whose example influences and inspires others. Each year, dental students serve as Schweitzer Fellows in several of the 12 local Schweitzer Fellows community sites in the U.S. Fuccillo received the award on Tuesday, October 26th at the Union League in Philadelphia.
