Registration Opens April 11 for 2012 ADA Annual Session in San Francisco: “The Future of Dentistry Meets Here”
Political Commentators Robert Reich and George Will to Headline Distinguished Speaker Series
CHICAGO, April 2, 2012 – Registration opens April 11 for the American Dental Association’s (ADA) 153rd Annual Session and World Marketplace Exhibition to be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco Oct. 18-21.
The ADA Annual Session brings together leaders in dental practice, research, academia and industry to present hundreds of continuing education courses over four days. In addition, the session will feature more than 600 exhibiting companies.
The Opening General Session on Thursday morning, Oct. 18 will include the Humanitarian Award and Gold Medal Award winner presentations as well as the Distinguished Speaker Series, which will be headlined by renowned political commentators Robert Reich and George Will. Reich is professor of public policy at the University of California at Berkeley. He has contributed to four national administrations, including President Barack Obama’s economic transition board and as secretary of labor under former President Bill Clinton. Will is a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and the country’s most widely read political columnist; his twice-weekly column is published in nearly 500 newspapers throughout the United States and Europe, and he regularly appears on the ABC news show “This Week.” Annual Session attendees will have the opportunity to listen and interact with these renowned political commentators as they share their perspectives on the key political issues leading into the November 2012 general election. This year’s Distinguished Speaker Series and Gold Medal Award are being presented by Church & Dwight, the makers of ARM & HAMMER®, Spinbrush® and ORAJEL® oral care products.
More than 280 Continuing Education Courses Available
The ADA Annual Session offers attendees the choice of more than 280 timely and relevant continuing education courses, with more than half of the lecture courses offered complimentary with registration. More than 60 hands-on workshops will be offered, including a new hands-on cadaver workshop offered at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Attendees can also choose from unique learning opportunities, such as six live-patient courses in the “Education in the Round” learning format and a variety of high-tech courses in the ADA CE Hub featuring dental lasers, CAD/CAM systems, 3D imaging systems and more.
The ADA will offer post-session continuing education at the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley on Tuesday, Oct. 23, and Wednesday, Oct. 24. Dr. Jeff Brucia will present two half-day morning courses on restorative dentistry.
Exhibit Hall, Discounts and More
The World Marketplace Exhibition will feature more than 600 leading suppliers of dental products and services. The exhibit hall will be open from Thursday, Oct. 18, through Saturday, Oct. 20.
The ADA offers discounts at 44 ADA official hotels in San Francisco. Hotels are located in the areas of the Moscone Center, Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf and Nob Hill. Every ADA official hotel has free Internet access included in the hotel rate, as well as many other amenities.
In addition, travel discounts will be available starting April 11 for Annual Session attendees flying on American, Delta and United Airlines; and discounted car rental services are provided by Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental. Registration Fees
The registration fee for practicing ADA-member dentists is $75 and $25 for retired ADA-member dentists. Nonmember dentists or graduate students attending for the first time are eligible for a reduced rate of $100, instead of the regular $775 rate for nonmember dentists.
