As the largest orthodontic support services organization in the U.S., Smile Doctors focused its efforts on utilizing the recently raised capital of over $550 million in Q3. This infusion will drive sustained growth and support strategic initiatives, including ongoing partnerships with practices across the U.S., the launch of a comprehensive de novo strategy, and the introduction of a new joint-venture partnership model. These combined efforts position Smile Doctors to maintain its industry-leading growth well into the future.
During Q3, Smile Doctors welcomed Fort Worth Orthodontic Specialists (TX), Thrive Orthodontics & Thrive Pediatric Dentistry (NJ), Best Smiles Orthodontics (FL), Lepley Orthodontics (TX), CC Braces (TX), McReath Orthodontics (WI), and Dau Orthodontics (FL) into the Smile Doctors network. This expansion brings the total number of affiliated locations to over 415, spanning 28 states.
“I decided to bring another practice into the network because of the success and support I’ve experienced since affiliating in 2018,” said Dr. Anthony Patel, founder of Anthony Patel Orthodontics and Fort Worth Orthodontic Specialists. “I’ve seen firsthand how the organization sets you up for success from the start, so it was truly a no-brainer.”
In addition to new affiliations, Smile Doctors celebrated the opening of a state-of-the-art de novo office in Arlington, Virginia in June. This expansion is in collaboration with Dr. Zach Casagrande’s Northern Virginia Orthodontics, a leading provider of Invisalign in the country. Another NVO de novo location is scheduled to open in Gainesville later this year. Additionally, de novo locations are planned for Lineberger Orthodontics (NC), Space City Orthodontics (TX), and Fishbein Orthodontics (FL) over the next six months.
The introduction of a new joint venture model offers partner doctors another opportunity to grow with Smile Doctors. This model allows for local ownership, providing partners the chance to participate in the success of Smile Doctors at both the local and network levels.
“This model just made sense for us and was the perfect way to partner with Smile Doctors,” said Dr. Ryan Streight, co-owner of Craig & Streight Orthodontics. “We wanted to be part of what Smile Doctors is doing for our industry but wanted to keep a stake in our practice, too. This new model allows us to do both.”
“I’m excited by our continued growth, the initial success of our de novo strategy and this new partnership model, especially considering the broader economic uncertainty impacting many organizations in our industry,” said J. Hedrick, CEO of Smile Doctors. “But what I’m most excited about is that all of these initiatives give our partner doctors new ways to leverage our support, expertise, and funding as we continue to shape the future of orthodontics, together.”
