A core principle of Southern Orthodontic Partners (SOP) is that we are better together, and learning from each other is a vital part. SOP’s Leadership Summit brings our partner doctors, practice leaders, and Central Team Support together annually to align on key platform initiatives and learn from one another.
We believe that by bringing our people together, we can create new ideas and achieve the best value for the platform and our stakeholders.
The title and focus of this year’s Summit, “Platform Alignment – From Good to Great,” highlighted the importance of shared goals and strong unity to drive success. The theme was magnified in every aspect of the weekend, as our doctors and teams collaborated on key issues and built momentum around new opportunities.
This year, 51 doctors, 31 practice managers, and 40 CTS leaders from across the South joined together in Nashville, Tennessee for the weekend. The conference featured doctor & leadership panel discussions, case study presentations, and special events that aimed to build relationships and provide connectivity. Participants had the opportunity to engage in interactive breakout sessions and share their experiences and insights with the broader group.
One of the highlights of the event was keynote speaker, Mike Vrabel, head coach of the Tennessee Titans, who brought a wealth of knowledge to the stage. Vrabel emphasized the value of mentorship and working closely with top performers, drawing examples from his experience coaching NFL teams.
Conference sessions reviewed components of our strategic plan, including segments on new doctor mentorship, clinical innovation & initiatives, digital growth, human capital, and practice manager development. SOP’s CEO, John Nelson, spoke on impacting the industry and achieving the company’s mission to become the preeminent orthodontic platform.

At the conclusion of the weekend, we hosted our celebratory dinner banquet and awards ceremony to recognize exceptional doctors, teams, and practice leaders who earned the honor of platform recognition. We are proud of how this event reflects our commitment to working together, leveraging best practices, and delivering value to our practices and their patients.
Our organization came away from the event feeling energized and inspired. We look forward to building on the momentum from the conference and continuing to work toward our mission and building a great company.
