Stähler Named CTO at Dentsply Sirona

Cord Friedrich Stähler, PhD, has joined Dentsply Sirona as its chief technology officer (CTO), leading the company’s global strategy for product development and innovation. With a doctorate in human genetics, Stähler has many years of experience in leadership roles with global companies. He will be based at Dentsply Sirona’s Bensheim site in Germany and report directly to CEO Don Casey.

“We are delighted to have Cord Stähler join us. His expertise makes him the ideal choice for consistently advancing our course of realigning our global strategy and raising our profile as a leading provider of innovative dental solutions,” Casey said.

“Cord Stähler’s varied experience in technology management and company development is a huge asset for us. He will further strengthen the position of Bensheim as a location for innovation,” said Michael Geil, managing director at the Bensheim site.

“I am looking forward to giving new impetus in a dynamic market environment at a global leader like Dentsply Sirona,” Stähler said.

Most recently, Stähler was senior vice president and head of the global medical device and service business at Merck KGaA in Geneva, where he managed global business activities such as product development, key account management, and customer training. He also was responsible for expanding Merck Healthcare’s digital strategy.

Previously, he was CTO and member of the Executive Committee at Siemens Healthcare for five years, where he was responsible for the technology base and innovation pipeline of the company’s global healthcare unit. He also played a key role in designing and successfully implementing a strategic innovation and business development program. 

As CTO and CEO, Stähler also has helped to establish several companies, including an instrumentation company and a software development company in genome analysis. He additionally was behind the successful development of companies in Europe, the United States, and Asia. Throughout his career, he has helped to develop more than 70 products.
