The 111th Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting once again filled the Georgia World Congress Center and Omni Hotel at Centennial Park, from March 21-23. The theme, “The Gateway to Systemic Health: It Starts with a Smile,” emphasized the important link between patients’ oral health care and their overall systemic health. The Meeting featured a new course, the “Oral Systemic All-Day Track,” and featured speakers Dr. Ellie Campbell, Ms. Lora Hooper, Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, Dr. Susan Maples, and Dr. DeWitt Wilkerson. Hinman 2024 featured 76 world-class dental speakers, with 19 new to Hinman, and more than 260 courses and special events.
Dr. Sedgie Newson, general chair for Hinman 2024, remarked on the success of the meeting by saying, “What a Hinman Meeting we had in March! The classrooms were full, the halls of the Georgia World Congress Center were teeming with activity, and our exhibitors said that this was their best Hinman Meeting in years. I’ve always said that our Meeting is the Augusta National of Dental Meetings because of our Hinman Dental Society members, who commit to making our attendees’ experience memorable. We consistently deliver quality education and exemplary service, all with genuine Southern hospitality. ‘Devotion to Detail is the Secret to Success’ was Dr. Hinman’s motto, and if he were alive today, he would be so proud.”
Hinman’s Night Out: Rock the Block at Restaurant Row on Friday night attracted more than 1,300 guests to STATS Brewpub, Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria, and Der Biergarten. The Keynote Session filled the Sidney Marcus Auditorium on Thursday night and featured The Evasons Mentalist Duo. Audience members were amazed to witness husband and wife, Jeff and Tessa Evason, showcase their talent known as “Second Sight” and perceive birth dates, personal items carried in pockets, and even correctly identify a serial number on a bill in an attendee’s wallet!
Hinman 2024 drew 13,506 total attendees including 3,981 dentists, 1,613 assistants, 3,045 hygienists, 933 office staff, 31 lab techs, 325 pre-dental students, 115 educators, 1,760 exhibitors, and 1,703 attendees that fall into the guests/media/other categories.
In addition to in-person courses and events, there are 13 hours of online learning available through May 31, 2024.
Planning has already begun for Hinman 2025, to be held March 20-22 and feature the theme “Spring Down South.”
