ATLANTA (March 24, 2011) – The Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting — the nation’s premiere dental meeting – introduces its new logo and look at Hinman 2011, held in Atlanta March 24-26, 2011. The colors and font have been updated to represent Hinman’s focus on the future without compromising its Southern tradition and heritage.
"We’re excited to be able to roll out Hinman’s new look and logo, representing what Hinman is today and in the future," said Dr. P. Edward Pafford, general chairman of the 2011 Hinman Dental Meeting. "Dr. Hinman himself was a proponent of advancement and change, and I believe he would be proud of how far we’ve come as a meeting. While the Hinman look may have changed, we continue to be grounded in tradition, delivering world-class continuing education and honoring Dr. Hinman’s vision."
In 2009, the Hinman Dental Meeting’s convention services provider, Freeman, conducted a brand audit for Hinman and arranged a series of focus groups that included everyone from dental students to Hinman’s Board of Trustees. The feedback was that attendees wanted a more modern, sophisticated image that doesn’t stray too far from Hinman’s "roots."
The audit and research also revealed that everyone refers to the meeting as just "The Hinman." With strong brand recognition in the Hinman name, the name "Hinman" is emphasized even more in the newly designed logo. The new logo and color palette have been incorporated into all of the signage, banners, registration and information booths, and onsite materials, as well as on the website and in marketing materials.
"We are thrilled with the result of the freshly designed booths, banners and signage," said Dr. Pafford. "It conveys accurately what Hinman is all about – a meeting of integrity and distinction that is hospitable and genuine, yet progressive and contemporary."
It’s taken nearly two years to roll out the new look from start to finish. At last year’s Hinman Dental Meeting, the new logo was previewed at the Keynote Session. It’s taken a year to make the transition.
The last major change to the logo occurred in 1990 when it was modified to include the Society’s original motto, "magna est veritas et praevalebit" ("truth is mighty and will prevail").
