The fourth class of graduates from Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) celebrated their commencement with a live awards ceremony followed by the hooding and commencement ceremony on May 21, 2023.
Under the Tent NY Sunshine Cottage on New York Medical College’s campus, an audience full of friends, family, and peers gathered to honor the 112 graduates with the tradition of hooding, representing the passage from student status to graduate status.
“The Class of 2023 has made their mark on TCDM, and we are proud to see them translate their skills and achievements learned here and move on to make successful strides in oral health care,” said Ronnie Myers, DDS, dean at TCDM. “Over the past four years, this group has grown from first year dental students to caring professionals. This was all made possible thanks to our incredible faculty and staff who worked with Touro’s innovative curriculum and state of the art clinical facilities.”
Cesar R. Sabates, D.D.S., Immediate Past President of the American Dental Association, was the distinguished keynote speaker for the ceremony. Dr. Sabates, was the first Cuban American president of the American Dental Association, he served from 2021-2022. Over the course of his career, Dr. Sabates has earned several fellowships from prominent organizations, including, the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Edward F. Farkas, DDS, MA, vice dean at TCDM, congratulated the Class of 2023, “We are so inspired by our graduating Class of 2023. I know when you leave here and go out into the world all of you will have a great, memorable impact on the development of dentistry and the treatment of future patients.”
TCDM’s distinguished graduates of the Class of 2023 completed a rigorous four-year dental education rooted in harnessing advancements in digital dental technology to better serve communities. Following commencement, students will begin their residencies or join private practices across the country.
TCDM is proud to be sending students to fulfill their residencies program at institutions such as University of Pennsylvania, NYU, University of North Carolina, and Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
