SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, July 2013—Later this month, Ultradent Products, Inc. will mark its 35th anniversary as a family-owned, international dental supply and manufacturing company. The company will celebrate its growth from a family-run, grassroots small business to the international industry leader it is today with a week’s worth of celebrations, which will include an employee picnic, game day, video presentation, and family movie night. Dr. Fischer will also speak at the kick-off event, reminiscing about Ultradent’s more than three decades in business.

After graduation from Loma Linda University and beginning his own practice, Dr. Dan Fischer invented and patented his groundbreaking hemostatic solution, Astringedent, in 1976 as an answer to the need for a tissue management product that achieved more rapid, profound hemostasis. His desire to market his invention and to continue to develop more advanced dental solutions led him to found Ultradent Products, Inc. in 1979—setting the pace for a succession of products that today, includes a wide range of innovative dental materials.

Business grew rapidly, and Ultradent expanded from a family-only home operation to its current 310,000-square-foot, two-building facility in South Jordan, Utah—a facility that presently houses more than 1,000 employees. The company has also garnered a strong international presence, operating nine offices and distribution centers worldwide, including subsidiaries in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Ultradent currently researches, designs, manufactures, and packages more than 500 materials, devices, and instruments used by dentists around the world, including its renowned, industry-leading Opalescence tooth whitening system. Ultradent’s product family also includes the award-winning VALO curing light, UltraSeal XT hydro, Ultra-Etch, and the company’s newly released laser-sintered, highly esthetic composite veneer system: Edelweiss.

Beyond the dental community, Ultradent donates products to humanitarian efforts locally, nationally, and internationally. Additionally, Ultradent sponsors a nonprofit organization, the Diversity Foundation, a progressive outreach program committed to preventing hate crimes and intolerance. The program promotes diversity and fosters multicultural awareness among individuals from all backgrounds.
