U.S. Oral Surgery Management (USOSM) has named Melissa Winfield and David Livesay as senior vice presidents of operations.
In their new roles, Winfield will be responsible for the Western half of the United States and Livesay will be responsible for the Eastern half.
“Our rapid growth in new practice partnerships and the solid, continuous growth of our current practice partnerships, puts us on a path of unprecedented acceleration in the oral surgery industry. To help us continue that growth, we’re excited to announce two new senior vice presidents of operations: Melissa Winfield and David Livesay. Melissa previously served as vice president of operations here at USOSM and has done an outstanding job implementing successful initiatives that have been instrumental in our growth,” said USOSM President and CEO Richard Hall.
Winfield has been with USOSM since 2018, first as a regional director, and most recently serving as vice president of operations. In her new role, Winfield will lead the operations for the Western region of the U.S, as well as the procurement and strategic scheduling departments. She will help ensure operations run at peak efficiency on a day-to-day basis, will serve as a mentor in the field, and help oversee systems, productivity and overall growth for USOSM and its partner practices. In addition, Winfield will serve as an advocate for and liaison to surgeon partners in her region.
“I enjoy working with the individual practices. Each practice and each surgeon is unique, even though they’re all leaders in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Interacting with the surgeons and their teams to build relationships and being a part of their success in providing exceptional patient care is rewarding,” said Winfield. “I also enjoy mentoring and helping develop leaders, and the fast-paced and strategic nature of what we do. I look forward to this next step, as we continue improving and growing as a team.”
With 20 years of experience in healthcare operations and a strong clinical background, Winfield excels in operational management, systems development and implementation, procurement, strategic thinking, mentorship and culture development—helping individuals and their companies to continuously improve and grow. Winfield also has 14 years of experience working in dermatology, Mohs micrographic surgery and plastic surgery. Prior to joining USOSM, she served as a consultant for a wide variety of medical subspecialties, including allergy and asthma, urology, pain management and dermatology.
“I’m also pleased to announce that David Livesay has joined USOSM as senior vice presidents of operations, with responsibility for the Eastern half of the United States,” added Hall. “David has a proven track record of success. He has held multiple leadership positions in operations and finance at DaVita, and most recently served as a senior vice president with US Anesthesia Partners. His prior experience in finance and strategic operations will be a welcomed addition as we continue our expansion and growth.”
Livesay has more than 15 years of experience in operations and finance, working in a wide variety of industries including healthcare, consumer and industrial products, insurance, energy, and construction. He is exceptionally skilled in operational management, financial management, culture-building, procurement, hiring and retaining the right employees, scheduling techniques, customer service, strategy development and process improvement.
“In a nutshell, my job comes down to one question. How do we best support our surgeon partners? Everything I do hinges on that. Our surgeon partners are the best at what they do, and I provide nonclinical support to help them continue improving,” said Livesay. “USOSM has a strong mission and strong values, with patients at the center. I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Livesay earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from the University of Houston. He is based out of Denver, Colorado.
